Animals commonly seen in the wild
Marine fauna:
Corals, turtles, rays, sharks, clown fish, regal angelfish, triggerfish and great variety of coral fish.
Birds:
Cacatoes, ducks, kingfisher, parrots, falconets, eagles.
Land mammals:
Bats, wild boars, deer.
Snakes and insects:
Cobras, vipers.
Common sights you will not like
In the city and on the road
Stray dogs and cats are quite common in many islands across the country. Open trucks carrying live cramped pigs or cows to the slaughter house. Hens and birds being sold in small cages on sidewalks. People holding puppies up in the air on side of roads or in parks to sell them.
In theCountryside
Water buffaloes (called “Carabaos”) pulling carts on roads or plowshares in rice fields. Horses and goats can be often seen tied on a rope near the side of the road for many hours.
