A bit about myself and why I became vegan

I first became vegetarian when I was ten years old out of my passion for animals. Due to the fact that growing up my diet was primarily vegetarian, it was rather easy to cut meat out. Then, at 15 years old, I started to become environmentally responsible. I transitioned to becoming vegan not only to conserve the lives of animals, but also as a means to reduce my ecological footprint. After adopting a plant-based diet, I quickly found many health benefits. Diving deeper into my health and wellness journey, I found that a vegan supported lifestyle worked incredibly for me.

When people ask me the reason I became vegan, I instinctively think to myself “why not?”

The Authentic Vietnamese Vegan Foodie Tour

If you want an authentic Vietnamese foodie experience as if you were living like a local, this is the tour for you! I’ll show you a hidden gem in the heart of the city known for the BEST vegan Bánh mí – a traditional Vietnamese sandwich eaten commonly eaten by locals throughout the day.  I’ll also show you some of my favorite “mom and pop” com cháy restaurants. These are local family run restaurants, where members of the family are in the shop working from early morning until late evening. There is someone in the back cooking fresh tofu and veggie vegan dishes all day long. The best thing about these places is how inexpensive they are. I became a regular at one less than 10 minutes from my house for 75 cents (USD).

Similarly, to the idea of com cháy restaurants, I know of an excellent all you can eat vegan buffet that runs purely on a donation based system. This place is incredible for its reputable loyalty and the fact that it is an endless buffet 100% vegan. I hope you’re planning to show up hungry, because this tour is all about tasting the local delicious food like a true local vegan.

All these places we will visit (and more) are hard to find by non locals and I will divulge all the vegan secrets Ho Chi Minh has to offer!

Learn about everything vegan in Ho Chi Minh

This tour will focus more on teaching you a variety of vegan related aspects, so you can travel anywhere around Vietnam without stressing about local food options available.
We will start our tour walking around the local markets where we can find the freshest produce available. I also plan to take you through town showing you top recommended vegan restaurants in the area. Since vegan meals are diet specific they can get away with up-charging for a vegan meal. However, depending on where you come from, if you are like me, where we’re used to paying more for a vegan meal option, rest assured that you can get a filling whole-food meal and plant-based beverage while remaining under $15 USD.

After grabbing a meal this tour extends with walking around to local markets and stores where you can find vegan-specific ingredients for both high and low prices. This tour will also involve some sampling and if you still have room in your stomach after that, I’ll show you a couple of the best vegan Vietnamese dessert.
