A bit about myself and why I became vegan

Hi! My name is Kamila, I am a 25 year old American-Colombian, living in Barcelona, Spain. I recently finished a Masters in Photography and Design with previous studies at The New School in New York City (where I lived for 5 years). I love living in Barcelona because of the sea and endless hiking opportunities!

I try to get out of the city center at least once a week to explore more of Spain. I enjoy cooking most of my meals at home and try to recreate my mother’s Colombian recipes with vegan-friendly options. My studies in design and photography have always been centered around sustainability and the human impact – two topics I am most curious about. Apart from my academic interests in all things design and photography, I dedicate a lot of my time to learning as much as I can about veganism.

I became vegan in the summer of 2015 and it’s been one of the best decisions and changes I have made in my life. I’ve met so many friends along my journey and I hope to meet you as well!

Vegan Tour in El Baron Barcelona

Take a vegan tour in Barcelona in my favorite neighborhood!

It’s located in the center of the city and is filled with boutique shops and beautiful architecture. We will begin checking out a really healthy joint that has great juices and smoothies along with healthy meal options. It’s an amazing place if you are just beginning your vegan journey or are curious.

After, we will walk down to a veggie-friendly restaurant that has  great options to try such as empanadas and pizza to take on the go! The last stops will be dessert! It also makes it easier that they are right next to each other. We will stop at a place where every dessert is vegan – they have delicious soft serves, ice cream, and cakes! Then, I’ll show you the place right  next door that specializes in different types of cinnamon rolls, cookies, and cupcakes. They also offer delicious coffee or chai tea along with vegan nutella or cinnamon rolls. We can take dessert to the park Ciudadela, just a 2 minute walk away!

Vegan Tour in El Ravel Barcelona

This neighborhood has so much to offer! For lunch we can visit a lovely hip place where the portions are favorable and prices affordable. It’s located right next to the MACBA museum where you can sight see the art and street culture just in front of the plaza. Next we will see an eco-friendly design store that has handmade goods from Barcelona so you will also be supporting low shipping emissions and local artists and designers if you decide to buy something. Next stop  we’ll see a shop where you’ll find sustainable products for home, office, or even beauty. It’s a great place to find an eco friendly, vegan souvenir or gift for friends and family back home. All these places are located within minutes walk from each other so it’ll give you plenty of time to browse and see all the el Raval has to offer. We’ll end a trip with a show and tell as we sit with a map and I’ll answer all your questions about the vegan aspects of the city and Spain.
