Vegan dishes

Dishes that are traditionally served vegan

(야채축) Rice porridge made with different vegetables like potato, onion, mushrooms, carrot, broccoli and squash. Make sure: no fish stock is used.

(버섯구이) Grilled mushroom, usually served in barbecue meals.

Beoseot gui

(김구이 or 구운 김) Grilled seaweed, usually served in barbecue meals.

Gim gui

Cooked rice with other grains like beans, millet and sorghum.

Ogok-bap

(호박전) Pan-fried zucchini, Make sure: no eggs are used.

Hobakjeon

Dishes that are not vegan by default, but can be made so, by asking to remove or change part of the ingredients.

Kong Guksu

(라면) A soup made with wheat noodles, vegetables and egg and meat on top. To veganize: ask for no meat or egg and make sure no meat stock is used.

Ramen

(비빔밥) Rice-based dish topped with egg, seasoned vegetables, fermented soybean paste and sliced meat. To veganize: ask for no meat, egg or fish sauce.

Bibimbap

(야채 김밥) Rice roll with vegetables and egg, rolled into dried seaweed sheets. To veganize: ask for no egg.

Vegetable Kimbap

(비빔냉면) Cold soup with wheat noodles, vegetables. and egg on top. To veganize: ask for no egg and make sure no meat broth is used.

Bibim Naengmyeon

(칼국수) Wheat noodles with spicy broth, pork/ chicken, green onion, bean sprouts and vegetables. To veganize: ask for no pork or chicken and make sure no meat broth is used.

Kalguksu

(빙수) Shaved-ice dessert made with red beans, fruits and sometimes condensed milk is added. To veganize: ask for no milk or honey.

Bingsu

Rice cake dessert made with different toppings including milk and/or honey. To veganize: ask for no milk or honey.

Tteok

Glass noodle stir-fry made with vegetables, meat, soy sauce and sesame oil. To veganize: ask for no meat.

Dishes that are not vegan, but appear to be.

Dishes that might look vegan, but contain animal products.

(설렁탕) Beef soup with rice and noodles, usually made with meat broth.

(김치전) Roasted pancake made of kimchi and wheat flour. Usually contain shrimp paste, meat and eggs.

(김치찌개) Kimchi stew made with anchovies and/or meat.
