Animals commonly seen in the wild
Marine fauna:
Marbled eel, rockfish, barbel, trout korean skate.
Birds:
Pheasant, cranes, geese, waterfowls, ducks.
Land mammals:
Sika deer, antelopes, weasels, badgers, marten, raccoon dogs.
Snakes and insects:
Rock mamushi, soft shelled turtle, Korean Skink.
Common sights you will not like
In the city and on the road
Even though South Korea is slowly turning away from the consumption of dog meat, it can still be found in many restaurants and supermarkets.
In theCountryside
Stray cats and dogs can be seen around the countryside.
Hunting or poaching:
Hunting is allowed in certain seasons, but not common due to very harsh gun laws in the country.
Animal fights:
Cheongdo bull fighting festival is celebrated each year in southern Korea. Horse fighting still takes place.

We have not included the treatment of animals in the meat/fur/leather industries, zoos or circuses, animal testing as it is unfortunately still happens in most countries.
