A bit about myself and why I became vegan

Hello, I’m Reenu! I was born and brought up in Thailand, but I’ve lived in India, the United Kingdom and Australia.  I used to work in the tourism, hospitality and marketing service industries. I’ve been a solo traveler to many countries and understand the needs of people alone on the road. I’ve been eco-conscious for over 10 years. And eventually went vegan.

I decided to go vegan because as a chef  I feel responsible for the food that I feed people.  The transition happened in Australia. Australian cities have restaurants and a café culture that offer vegan multi-cultural food experiences. I was simply blown away about vegan culture in Australia and it make me awaken to veganism.

I am also lactose intolerant so I researched about dairy alternatives that I would be able to consume and through this process learnt more than I imagined.

The Silom Vegan Tour

We will meet in the  Silom district of Bangkok, famous for it’s thriving vegan scene. You will get a chance to experience delicious street food as well as home grown and house made products. We will experience the delights of garden cafes and local vegan comfort food.. You will get to find and taste vegan foods exclusive to Thailand.

We will explore the Lai Lai sap and Silom Soi 20 local markets and learn how to identify some of the vegan dishes that you can order there. I will also help you to identify vegan dishes in the local cuisine so that you can travel anywhere in Thailand and spot the pitfalls to avoid and the vegan by default options present on almost every menu.

We will stop on the way in some zero waste and bulk stores and also visit a chocolate factory serving the best of the local cacao concoctions and candies.”

Vegan Tour in Sukhumvit

In this tour, we will meet the locals behind the vegan scene and hear their stories at each stop we make. I’ll introduce you to street food such grilled banana and we will visit a local Thai health shop so that you can see which are the local products made right here.

We will walk towards Phrom Phong area and show you around other vegan restaurants along the way, as I’ll introduce you to my favorite Thai comfort food that will challenge your misconceptions about vegan food. Hint: it’s a mix of Asian and Spanish with a range of tacos and spicy dumplings!

Our next stop will be to visit a local shop with an organic station providing refills to shoppers. Free goodies will be given to our visitors. Along the way we will visit a quick stop at the most famous vegan pizza restaurant in Bangkok! But let’s not forget dessert! Our next stop will be to visit a dessert shop (tofu ice cream and drinks) made from local soybeans

We will walk towards a spa & raw food café which is well recommended by many. This is where we will sit with a  complimentary herbal drink and end our trip.
