Vegan dishes

Dishes that are traditionally served vegan

Vegetable soup with carrots, leeks, kohlrabi, celery, cabbage, onion, garlic and maybe cream. Make sure: No meat broth or cream is used.


Grilled vegetables commonly including - asparagus, zucchini, onions, pepper and corn. Make sure: No meat or egg is added.


Quinoa salad with vegetables, commonly including arugula, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, pepper, tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini.


Boiled Potatoes with salt and herbs. Make sure: no butter is added.


Famous Austrian pickled cabbage.


Plum compote made with cloves, cinnamon and lemon juice.


Large beetle bean salad commonly made with celery, radish, tomatoes and onion.


Potato salad with chives, onions in a white wine vinegar dressing.


Grilled asparagus with olive oil. Make sure: no butter is used.

Cucumbers with onions, dill, vinegar, pepper and sugar.


Dishes that can be Veganized

Dishes that are not vegan by default, but can be made so, by asking to remove or change part of the ingredients.

Pumpkin soup with carrots, ginger and coconut milk and sour cream. To veganize: make sure no sour cream or butter is added.


Noodles with cabbage and sometimes meat. To veganize: check that no meat or lard/butter is used.


Pizza with vegetables and cheese. To Veganize: Ask for no cheese or meat to be added.


Tomato spaghetti with zucchini, carrots, onion and pumpkin and parmesan. To Veganize: make sure no egg or parmesan is used.

Spaghetti mit Gemusesugo

General name for many types of local salad. To veganize: make sure no meat, egg or dairy is added.


Dishes that are not vegan, but appear to be.

Dishes that might look vegan, but contain animal products.

Apple strudel will contain milk and or butter.


Pepper based spread, will contain cream.


Asparagus baked in batter that will contain eggs

Gebackener Spargel

Sweet dumplings filled with apricots, butter and sugar.
