Commonly served vegan

Dishes that are traditionally served vegan

"Dressed up tofu". Stir fried tofu with mixed vegetables. Make sure: no meat or fish are added

Tao Hoo Song Kreung

Stir fried vegetables with local spices. The Taohu version will come with tofu inside. Make sure: no fish/oyster sauce is used

Taoho Pad Phak/Pak

(Morning Glory) Stir fried water spinach with soy and garlic sauce. Make sure: no shrimp is added

Pak Boong

Plain sticky rice. Can be served as a side or inside of banana leaves

Khao niao /Sticky rice

Pumpkin soup made with curry spices and coconut cream

Sticky Rice/Tapioca pudding made with coconut cream, sugar and mangoes

Dishes that can be Veganized

Dishes that are not vegan by default, but can be made so, by asking to remove or change part of the ingredients.

Papaya salad with chili pepper, garlic, lime and tamarind, fish sauce dressing. To veganize: ask for no fish sauce and no dried shrimp

Som Tum

Green mango salad with chili, garlic, lime, coriander, fish/ shrimp-based sauce. To veganize: ask for no fish sauce or dried shrimp

Som Tum Mamuang

Traditional curry stew with veggies, coconut milk, fish/oyster sauce and meat. To veganize: ask for no meat/ fish and no fish/oyster sauce


Stir fried pumpkin and other vegetables in soy sauce. May have eggs, fish sauce or pork. To veganize: ask without eggs, fish sauce or pork

Pad Phuk Tong

Stir fry with vegetables, usually with meat and fried egg and fish sauce. To veganize: ask to substitute these for mushrooms

Pad Kra Pao

Grilled eggplant with soy sauce, garlic and chili. made with fish/oyster sauce and served with eggs. To veganize: ask without egg and fish sauces

Yum Makeua Yao

Rice noodles with vegetables and meat/ fish/ tofu, fried with fish sauce, dried shrimp, garlic. To veganize ask without fish/shrimp

Pad Thai

Fresh/ deep-fried rice spring rolls, stuffed with vegetables, meat/ fish and glass noodles. To veganize: ask for no meat/ fish and no fish sauce

Po Phey Jae

Dishes that are not vegan, but appear to be
