Animals commonly seen in the wild

Marine fauna:

Seal, beaver, fishes - catfish, herring, trout, zander, halibut, cod.

Birds:

Falcons, eagles, swans, Sparrows, Crows, pheasants, partridges, pigeons, heron, woodpecker, blue tit, bullfinch.

Land mammals:

Deers, foxes, squirrels, wild boars, wolfs, bears, European bison, hares, wild rabbits, mouflons, roes, hedgehogs, badgers, raccoons, lynx, goats.

Snakes and insects:

Frogs, dragonfly, fly, mosquitoes, bees, wasps, snails, ladybirds.

Common sights you will not like

In the city and
on the road

Dogs can be seen chained up, though forbidden by law. In supermarkets, some fish are kept live in tanks and killed upon order.

In the
Countryside

Horses are sometimes used for agriculture purposes.

Hunting or poaching:

The most hunted animals are wild ducks (mallards, teals, coots, woodcocks), boars, deer, pheasants, partridges, foxes, hares, wild rabbit, mouflon. There are many poachers.

Animal fights:

By Polish law – “It is forbidden to use animals in shows and sports characterized by cruelty” (Polish Animal Protection Act)

We have not included the treatment of animals in the meat/fur/leather industries, zoos or circuses, animal testing as it unfortunately still happens in most countries.
