Dishes that are not vegan by default, but can be made so, by asking to remove or change part of the ingredients.

Rice cooked with vegetables, meat or paneer (cheese), cinnamon and spices. To veganize: ask for no meet, cheese or butter

Briyani

Soup made with seasonal vegetables and butter/cream. To veganize: ask for no butter/cream

Vegetable Soup

Red kidney bean stew, with with tomatoes, lentils, chili and cream. To veganize: ask to be made without cream or ghee

Dal Makhani

Rice dish made with vegetables, chicken, dried fruit, nuts and local spices. To veganize: ask for no chicken

Pulao

Rice dish made with lentils, ghee and spices. To veganize: ask for no butter or ghee

Khichdi

Snack made with chickpeas, potatoes, tomato, coriander, chili and local spices with yogurt on top. To veganize: ask for no yogurt

Channa Chaat

Potato curry made with egg, tomatoes and local spices. To veganize: ask for no eggs or ghee

Aloo Anday

Dishes that are not vegan, but appear to be.

Dishes that might look vegan, but contain animal products.

Vegetable Chow Mein

Flatbread will usually be made with dairy products

Naan

Crispy wheat triangle filled with potato and peas. Most places will have added butter/ghee. But it is possible to find vegan version also

Samosa

These sweet balls will contain ghee inside
