Animals commonly seen in the wild

Marine fauna:

Sea turtles, whales, sharks, lobsters, dolphins, sea lions.

Birds:

Wild geese, ducks, eagles, vultures, storks, eagle owls.

Land mammals:

Bears, wolves, lynx, wildcats, horses, marmots, otters, martens, minks, sheep, boars, bats, shrews.

Snakes and insects:

Salamanders, newts, frogs, toads, snakes, vipers, moths, beetles.

In the city and
on the road

Carps are often kept in water tanks on the street and killed after customer has made his selection.

In the
Countryside

Zabijacka, a traditional pig slaughter that happens in public in towns and villages during the winter season.

Hunting or poaching:

Hunting is allowed . Hunters might sometimes exhibit dead animals publicly.

Animal fights:

Although animal fighting is banned, dog fights still take place.
