Animals commonly seen in the wild

Marine fauna:

Dolphins, whales, turtles, catfish, pirarucu, piranhas (rarer, in the Amazon), alligators.

Birds:

Toucans, macaws, ibis, parrots, crested owls, eagles.

Land mammals:

Foxes, anteaters, sloths, armadillos, monkeys, pumas and jaguars (rarer).

Snakes and insects:

Anacondas, boa-constrictors, rattlesnakes, vipers, tarantulas, scorpions, butterflies.

Common sights you will not like

In the city and
on the road

Many stray cats and dogs. Transport of cattle on the roads in open trucks. Bull fighting is commonly seen on holidays and festivals.

In the
Countryside

Horses and cattle are used for agriculture.

Hunting or poaching:

Permitted at state level in most states. Hunting of felines and birds most frequent. Also, there is a market for illegal animal trade of exotic birds, snakes and mammals.
