Animals commonly seen in the wild

Marine fauna:

Cormorants, pelicans, storks, herons, ducks, geese, swans, eagles.

Land mammals:

Bears, wolves, wild pigs, wildcats, chamois, otters, foxes.

Snakes and insects:

Vipers, butterflies, spiders, dragonflies.

Common sights you will not like

In the city and
on the road

Untreated stray dogs are a big problem in Bosnia. They are commonly found in packs, laying down in the street, drinking water from fountains, eating from garbage bins.

In the
Countryside

Horses and cattle used for agriculture and for pulling carts.

Hunting or poaching:

Is allowed all year round: Wolves, bears, boars, deer, wildcats, foxes.

Animal fights:

Bull fights are common.
